The Value of the Trot When Training.

No matter what discipline you engage in, don’t underestimate the value of the trot when training.

The trot’s rhythmic one-two, one-two pace helps discourage rushing and is perfect for introducing lateral movements that improve flexibility and balance.

It is fast enough to engage the horse’s mind, but slow enough to allow the rider to do some forward planning.

The trot produces a degree of straightness, even in green or unfit horses.

Because of the trot’s natural rhythm, it is easy to detect gait inconsistencies that might alert you to a problem.
