Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation in Guthrie, OK

Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation

Congratulations to the Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation for being the charity chosen by Emily Parmenter, Kentucky Performance Products 25th Anniversary GRAND PRIZE WINNER.  We hope you enjoy learning more about the Horse and Hound’s mission.

Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation is located in Guthrie, OK, just north of Oklahoma City. The rescue was founded by Nelda and Larry Kettles as a way to give back after their 30+ years in the Thoroughbred racing and breeding industry. Horse and Hound focuses on finding forever homes for off-track Thoroughbreds and is a sanctuary for senior dogs to live out their golden years despite being abandoned or surrendered.

When a race horse is responsibly retired from the racetrack, Horse and Hound will take in the horse, give them let-down time or time to heal from an injury, depending on the horse, and from there the horse is evaluated. All horses are started with groundwork and are given time, attention, and a foundation for their next career. Horse and Hound is made up of all volunteers, and their time, dedication, and love help pair the horses with the right adopter and experience level for both the horse and the rider.

Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation is proud and humbled to have been able to adopt out over 500 horses since being founded in 2016. Some of their OTTB alumni have gone on to careers in dressage, eventing, jumping, hunting, polo, search and rescue, trail riding, ranch work, therapy work, and just being someone’s best friend.
